
Naomi Oster (any pronouns), is a dancer and organizer of the Chicago Contact Improv Jam Collective, a community based contact improv jam that has been running for over 40 years. They came to practice contact improv in 2016 at Lawrence University, after a decade of devised theater roots. Recent curiosities include clowning, spontaneous performance, closed containers, and teaching in community-based settings. Ensemble Thinking at the core of their performance tradition after direct study with Lower Left collective members. They are easily bored by choreography and they envision a world that cherishes improvised play. Naomi’s movement lineage includes lessons from Margaret Paek, Tamara Drew, and the dance floors of each Chicago Public School they attended.
